Na-Lae Han won the Korean Open doubles title with Choi Ji-hee in 2018 and then the duo won the title again in 2021, but last year’s event was a WTA 125 tournament.

Han will be playing her first tour-level main draw match on Monday. The 30-year-old is 34-14 from all her matches this year.

She has featured in three ITF final this year, winning one title and finishing runner-up on the two other occasions.

Han has played almost her entire career on hard courts, playing more than 550 competitive matches on the surface. She is 28-10 on hard courts. All her 22 finals at the ITF level have also been on hard courts. She has won 12 of those 22 finals.

Han has played in Seoul thrice before, with a Round of 16 finish last year being her best.

Back Comes Through Qualifiers

Facing Han is Dayeon Back, who entered the main draw through the qualifiers.

The World No. 760 defeated Lina Glushko in three sets in the first qualifying round and then knocked out Daniela Vismane in straight sets to enter the main draw.

Back had lost in the first round in Seoul last year. She comes into this year’s tournament with a 19-10 season record behind her. All her 29 matches have been played on hard courts this year.

The 20-year-old, who will be playing her first tour-level match on Monday, is on a seven match winning streak. Before winning her two qualifying round matches she had won five matches in a row to win the Yeongwol 2 ITF title. Back has also had a semifinal finish and two quarterfinal finishes this year.

She will be hoping to impress at home.
