World No. 81 Rebecca Marino has been in good form recently and the Canadian has won two matches each in all of her last three tournaments.
Marino won her first two rounds to reach the quarterfinals in Granby. The 31-year-old then won the first two rounds at the U.S. Open for the first time in her career but couldn’t make it to the Round of 16.
In Chennai, last week, Marino knocked out Anna Blinkova and Katarzyna Kawa in the first two rounds respectively but went down fighting to Magda Linette in the last eight stage.
Marino is 42-20 across levels in 2022, with an outstanding 31-12 record on hard courts. While on the tour she has been in the quarterfinals thrice, including in Washington last month, she had reached three consecutive ITF finals in February and March during a 16-3 run from four ITF tournaments following the Australian Open.
Marino won her 13th ITF title at the Arcadia Pro Open in the U.S., but finished runner-up in the other two.
She has now started producing good results on a consistent basis on the tour as well. Expect her to begin with a win on Tuesday.

Fett Qualifies for Another Tournament
World no. 286 Jana Fett qualified for her fourth WTA tournament of the season.
The Croatian, who had needed three sets to beat her first qualifying round opponent, South Korea’s Kim Da-bin, defeated another local hope Yeon Woo Ku 6-4, 6-4 in the second qualifying round on Sunday.
Fett, who was a girls’ runner-up at the Australian Open in 2014, had also made it to the main draw at Wimbledon this year, for just her third Grand slam appearance.
She has an overall record of 25-22 this season and is 17-13 on hard courts. The highlight of her season was a run to the final at an ITF tournament in Nottingham, but she couldn’t capture a sixth ITF title.
Fett had qualified for the Chennai Open as well last week, but she was comprehensively beaten by Nao Hibino in the opening round. Can she upset the eighth seed on Tuesday?

This will be a one-sided affair with Marino dominating the contest from start to finish. The Canadian should have no trouble in advancing.
