Ekaterina Alexandrova v Na-Lae Han Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 27 year old Alexandrova, and the South Korean, three years her senior.

Alexandrova Makes Hard Work of Beating American

Alexandrova won her second career title on the grass of Rosmalen in June, but was unable to compete at Wimbledon because of the ban on Russian players this year.

Since then, she has struggled a little for form, and has not won more than a single match at any of the tournaments she has entered, including the US Open.

She was given an easy looking first round draw against the American Asia Muhammad, but, in the end, made hard work of beating the world number 142.

That did not seem likely, though, when she breezed through the first set for the loss of just one game.

But the American revived, broke Alexandrova midway through the second set and once more, to take the match into a decider.

Fortunately for the number two seed she found her form again, broke Mohammad twice in succession, the last time being decisive.

Han Sweeps Aside Fellow South Korean

Han made her main tour debut at this event eight years ago, but the intervening years have been spent predominantly on the ITF tour where she has appeared in 22 finals, winning 12 of them. She has twice been a runner-up in events this year.

Given a wildcard this time, she could scarcely have wished for an easier first round draw, pitted against qualifier and fellow South Korean, Dayeon Back, an opponent ranked more than 450 places below her in the world.

A mis-match on paper, so it proved on court, as Han swept through the first set for the loss of just one game, and then did the same in the second.

The match was over in less than an hour.

Alexandrova v Han Prediction and Tip

Whilst Han will have the benefit of home support, if Alexandrova plays at anything like her full potential, she should be winning this match with ease.
