Ostapenko Barely Pulls Through
Jelena Ostapenko is a former champion of this event having won it in 2017. She defeated Beatriz Haddad Maia back then and now both of them are back and playing really well at this event. However, the Latvian faced quite a bit of trouble in this one.
She nearly lost the match against Gasanova but was able to survive and move on. A quarterfinal against a lucky loser is the reward but it will be anything but an easy match. She plays a very aggressive style. Every one of her matches has her hit over 20 winners and an equal or double the number of errors.
It’s just a byproduct of how she plays tennis and it’s really hard to counter when it’s working well. 28-15 is the score this year so it’s been working well for the most part but she’s still capable of losing matches because of it.
Her run in North American wasn’t that great as she was missing more than hitting which she needs to change if she hopes to win this event once more.

Kasintseva Going Strong
Lucky Loser Kasintsea certainly did not expect to play in the quarterfinal of an event she entered due to luck. She actually lost in the qualifiers to Sun but got lucky. She certainly used that well winning two matches in a very impressive fashion.
No sets dropped against two fairly solid players. None of her opponents were world beaters but beating them was important to increase her confidence and self-belief. Ostapenko is a decent opponent for her as she won’t need to think too much.
If she can stay patient and return enough balls, Ostapenko might beat herself and that would send the youngster to the semi-final. She is only 17 years old and from Andorra, a country with very little tennis tradition.
A deep run here will get her close to a top 100 debut which would be impressive.
Ostapenko v Jimenez Kasintseva Prediction and Tip
This is an interesting matchup between two players that never played before. Ostapenko has the match on her racquet but she could also lose it. I expect three sets.
Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
