The first round of the ATP Sofia Open will feature the French star Gael Monfils against the Serbian wildcard Viktor Troicki, on Tuesday evening. The match will not start before 6:00 pm local time (4:00 pm BST).

Gael Monfils v Viktor Troicki Head to Head
The pair has met a total of four times on the ATP Tour so far. Monfils has won all of those four matches and he presently leads by 4-0. They last met in the first round of Madrid Masters and the Frenchman won that encounter in straight sets.
Monfils’ Poor Start to the Year
The 32-year-old Frenchman is heading into this fixture after starting the 2019 season on a highly disappointing note. He played in only one tournament – the Australian Open and lost in the second round to Taylor Fritz in four sets.
Monfils presently lacks rhythm and momentum, and this is something he desperately needs if he wants to go the distance here. His performance last season was not all that exciting but he still managed to deliver some interesting results.
He won the tournament in Doha right at the start of the season and slowly backed it up with a run to the semifinal in Buenos Aires. Towards the end of the season, he reached the final in the European Open where he succumbed to Kyle Edmund. He eventually capped the year with a win-loss record of 29-20.
Troicki – A Player With A Big Serve
Troicki, who is currently ranked as the World No. 185, began his year by playing in the Playford Challenger in Australia. He lost in the second round there following which, he travelled to Melbourne. He started as a qualifier there and made it all the way to the second round, only to lose to Stefanos Tsitsipas.
The veteran Serbian was not that active last season, having played in only a selected few tournaments. He did play in Sofia and made it to the quarterfinal. He missed out on the French Open and Wimbledon before finally appearing for the US Open. Once again, he was sent packing in the first round itself.

Monfils will start this match as the favourite to win. He has the edge here and should be able to win this one in straight sets.
