What began as a slow burner of a seasoon, may well turn into Borna Coric’s career-best season. It is pertinent to note that Coric was ursing a surgiclaly repaired shoulder at this time last season, with the road to full recovery looking every bit long.

But it appeared the emotional and physcial toll was too much to bear at Flushing Meadows as the Crotatian World No. 26 fell to a disppointing straight-sets defeat to Jenson Brooksby in the second round.

Albot Lifts Ninth Challenger Title
Radu Albot picked up his first title of the season at the Istanbul Challenger (his ninth overall) this past week as the 32-year-old returned to the world’s top 100 for the first time in almost a year.
Albot was a step ahead of the rest of the field in Turkey’s second city, squeaking through a couple of three-setters before dismantling the big-serving Lukas Rosol 6-2 6-0 in the final.
It will be fascinating to see whether he can quickly replicate his form on the hard courts of Seoul just a week from his title triumph in Istanbul.
The Moldovan owns a 34-25 record for the season and will attempt to score his first top 30 win of the season.
Coric v Albot Prediction and Tip
Coric was gassed at the US Open and we should give him the benefit of doubt. Expect the Croat to ease his way past the Moldovan World No. 92.
