Steve Johnson v Nam Ji-sung Head to Head
Steve Johnson will play South Korea’s Nam Ji-sung for the first time on Monday.

Johnson On Three-Match Losing Streak
Steve Johnson is currently on a three-match losing streak ahead of his debut appearance at the Korean Open. The American lost more recently at the San Diego Open against Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo.
That defeat was a major blow in Johnson’s hopes to return to the Top 100 considering he was slated at 8/13 to defeat Tabilo who is hardly a perennial danger on hard courts. Losing in straight sets made it even more difficult to digest.
Johnson is now 16-15 on tour-level matches this year, with his major highlights being two quarterfinals appearances (one in Newport, the other in Los Cabos). He has not managed to nail down a place inside the top 100 since the turn of the year.
Can he snap his losing streak when he takes on the unheralded Nam Ji-sung?

Nam Ji-Sung Makes Rare Main Draw Appearance
Nam Ji-sung is only four years younger than Johnson but has hardly played at tour level. Experience will be a key factor in this match-up, with the South Korean limited to just five ATP main draw appearances since turning pro in 2009. In fact, he has only played three matches on the main tour since 2019.
Ji-sung is one of three wild cards at the Korean Open and will surely be backed by the home crowd to translate his good form on the Futures circuit where he has amassed five titles during his career to the main tour.
The 29-year-old last played on the ATP Tour in 2021, losing to Australia’s Dane Sweeney at the Great Ocean Road Open. He is currently ranked 545 in the world, a long way off from his career-high of No. 236.
Johnson v Ji-sung Prediction and Tip
Johnson’s momentum from the start of the North American hard-court swing has clearly slowed down, but he should be expected to wrestle control of this match.
Tip: Johnson to win AND under 18.5 games: 6/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
