Anett Kontaveit v Xiyu Wang Head to Head
This will be their first meeting on the WTA Tour.

Kontaveit, the Current World No. 3
2022 has been a mediocre year for Anett Kontaveit, who has been struggling with serious form issues due to long Covid. Having started strong with a title run in St. Petersburg and the runner-up feat in Qatar, the Estonian lost her rhythm after the Stuttgart Open as she got the virus.
Since then, there has been only one tournament where the 26-year-old managed to bag more than two wins in a week – it was the Hamburg European Open where she was a finalist.
Kontaveit followed it with a quarterfinal exit in Prague, a first-round loss in Toronto and similar early exits in the Cincinnati Open and the US Open. In the last one, she fell to Serena Williams in three sets.
But that was almost a month ago; Anett has had some time to rest, and perhaps, playing in her hometown is just what she needs to rediscover her groove.

Wang, Hard at Work
Xiyu Wang is set to begin her campaign in the Tallinn Open with a record of 38-21 and a career-best singles ranking of #58. It is impressive as she began the year outside the top 130.
Her highlights include three ITF finals and a runner-up feat in the Valencia Challenger.
In recent weeks, the 21-year-old has picked up the pace beautifully – starting with a semifinal run in the Citi Open (as a qualifier) and following it with a quarterfinal result in Granby and a round three appearance in the US Open.
In these events, Wang defeated a few well-known names like Victoria Azarenka, Tatjana Maria, Donna Vekic, and Maria Sakkari.
Kontaveit v Wang Prediction and Tip
Clearly, Wang has a fair bit of momentum to her game, while Kontaveit is on the opposite end of the spectrum. An upset can happen. That said, the top seed is the heavy odds-on favourite owing to her superior pedigree and experience.
