Diane Parry rose to prominence at this year’s French Open when she upset the applecart and defeated defending champion Barbora Krejcikova in the first round.
While Krejcikova’s fitness level coming to the tournament was under the microscope, it did not take the gloss out of a very brave performance by Parry whose introduction to the big stage was warmly received by her adoring home support.
Parry has a ceiling of No. 1 on the junior tour which she achieved in 2019. And her swashbuckling style of tennis is so soothing to the eyes, particularly her backhand slice, which is such a natural shot when she plays it.
The 20-year-old Frenchwoman has ascended to inside the Top 100, peaking at No. 66 ahead of the Tallinn Open in Estonia.

Noskova Shocks Watson to Qualify
Even with aging players like Petra Kvitova and the slow decline of Barbora Krejcikova, Czech tennis is in safe hands with the emergence of a new crop of young players.
Among them include Linda Fruhvirotva (who sensationally streaked to her maiden title in Chennai) and Linda Noskova, both 17 and showing wisdom beyond their years.
For Noskova, the short-term target is to be a mainstay in Top 100 which is well within reach and could re-enter it with a deep run in Tallinn. She is 11-2 on indoor hard courts this season and is certainly a force to be reckoned with in the future.
Noskova acclimatized herself with the court conditions in Estonia, beating Pattinama Kerkhove and Heather Watson in straight sets to reach the main draw.

This is a tough one to call simply because both players are in good form. While we reckon the edge should be on Noskova given her superior indoor record, the games market should be a relatively safer pick.
