Karolina Muchova v Jessika Ponchet Head to Head
No previous matches have been played between Muchova and Ponchet at the highest level. They did face off in 2018 on the ITF tour where Muchova won in straight sets.

Injury-Hit Muchova Hoping for Longer Stay on Court
It was turning out to be an excellent third round encounter at the French Open earlier this year with Muchova having taken the first set and opponent Amanda Anisimova levelled things out.
And while the American was 3-0 up in the decider, things could have gone either way. The way that Muchova wouldn’t have wanted them to go is what exactly happened as she had to retire from the match because of injury after rolling her ankle over.
Her comeback to tennis has been a slow and grinding process, what with Muchova having featured in four tournaments including a WTA 125 event in Concord and won just one match.
Unfortunately for her, her draws at Berlin and Wimbledon weren’t kind while she fell to Ajla Tomljanovic in the first round at the US Open.
Can she now get back to her winning ways against a player ranked 168th in the world?

Ponchet Makes it Through the Qualifiers
Ponchet has made a name for herself on the ITF circuit, with a total of eight singles titles on it. And what makes it special is she has been consistent across all surfaces, with three titles on clay and five on indoor and outdoor hardcourts.
Which is why, just two weeks after winning an ITF tournament on clay, she featured in these qualifiers here indoors and won both her matches to make the main draw.
In the first qualifying round, Ponchet overcame a first set loss to Jodie Burrage to claim the win before routing Marina Ribera in the second.
And while Muchova, at her fittest, would be quite a handful, Ponchet would know this might be a very good chance to win the rare main draw match on the WTA tour. Can she use her experience of having played a lot more matches this season?
Muchova v Ponchet Prediction and Tip
Muchova starts off a 1/4 favourite but those odds don’t do too much justice to the way things are at with respect to her injury. Ponchet has the game to carve out a set here.
