Taylor Fritz v Mackenzie McDonald Head to Head
While these two have met five times at different levels of competition only one of those matches came on the ATP circuit and McDonald had won it in three sets at Delray Beach in 2019.

Fritz will hope to focus on the rest of the season instead of his US Open discomfiture. The Wimbledon quarterfinal showing comes to mind where he had Rafael Nadal on the brink.

McDonald Ousts Martinez in Opener
McDonald was on court for nearly two hours but in the end he got the job done as he outplayed Pedro Martinez in the first round of this competition.
The American broke his opponent once in each set, while saving all four break-points he faced to win 6-4, 7-5 and reach the second round.
What will be interesting to see is if McDonald now make it successive victories in Seoul, because the last time he did that this season was way back in May. He had reached the third round there. Since then, he had won just six of the next 16 matches he had played before coming into ATP Seoul.
And up against Fritz, the chances of carving out back to back wins will be quite low given the difference in the players’ quality.

Fritz should not have too much trouble in getting past McDonald with a straight-set win looking very likely.
