Barbora Krejcikova v Beatriz Haddad Maia Head to Head

While Krejcikova leads 1-0, they last met in 2016 in an ITF event.

Krejcikova Beats Kostyuk

Barbora Krejcikova is set to compete in her first singles quarterfinal on the WTA Tour in Tallinn since the Hamburg European Open this July.

The Czech made it so far without dropping a set, beating the likes of Ajla Tomljanovic and Marta Kostyuk.

Just in February, Krejcikova was the new World No. 2. Now, she has dropped down to the #27 spot, owing to a drop in form due to injury and later contracting Covid-19. With every match she plays now, Krejcikova seems to be returning to her former self – but the road to glory is still long.

Her record is now 18-14; her last two events were the US Open and Cleveland Open, where she fell in round two to the likes of Bernarda Pera and Aleksandra Krunic.

That said, she has been absolutely phenomenal in doubles; Barbora is the current doubles #2 – having won the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.

Beatriz has been in a much better, consistent form of late, so she needs to be cautious.

Maia, Now at 47-20

Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia started the year as World No. 83. She is now sitting at her career-best ranking at the #15 spot – with an impeccable record of 47-20.

Her highlights include singles titles from the Nottingham Open, Birmingham Classic, and Saint-Malo Challenger, and the runner-up feats in the Canadian Open and Paris 125k. On the doubles circuit, Maia was the runner-up in the Australian Open and the winner in Nottingham and Sydney.

Moreover, Beatriz has reached the quarters in her last two events in Tokyo and Portoroz, losing respectively to Veronika Kudermetova and Ana Bogdan in three sets.

Here in Tallinn, the third seed got so far after beating Xinyu Wang and Linda Noskova.

Clearly, Maia is in a superior form with plenty of momentum. She is fitter than Krejcikova at the moment and well poised to knock out the Czech.

Maia v Krejcikova Prediction and Tip

The Brazilian will start as the favourite owing to her recent results, but an upset is on the cards. Krejcikova can put up a fight and possibly reach the semis – but it will take some doing on her part.
