Muchova Upsets Golubic
Wildcard Karolina Muchova seems to be in good shape in Tallinn as she is set to compete in her first quarterfinal since the Wimbledon Championships last year.
Her journey entailed a straight-set win over Jessika Ponchet in the opener and then Viktorija Golubic 4-6, 6-0, 6-2. She is now 9-7 following as of Thursday, ranking #224.
2022 has been an injury-stricken year for the former World No. 19. She missed out on the Australian Open series due to her ailment; later, an ankle injury and wrist injury kept her out of commission for several other events.
Muchova last played in the US Open, where she fell to Ajla Tomljanvic in the opener. She has taken some time off to focus on her health; by the looks of it, she seems to be returning to her former self.
As for her pedigree, she has three Grand Slam quarterfinals to her name and two WTA career finals – the last coming in September 2019. The 26-year-old is highly skilled and experienced in delivering a good run.

Kanepi Moves Past Li
Kaia Kanepi, 37-year-old Estonian, continues to impress in her home tournament. After beating the in-form Latvian Jelena Ostapenko in three sets in round one, she then moved past Ann Li 7-5, 7-5.
Credit where it is due, she is the current World No. 32 and seems to be in better form than many youngsters on the circuit. Her tally now stands at 28-15 and has amassed close to $1 million in prize money.
Her recent highlights include a runner-up feat in the Citi Open – followed by round two appearances in the Rogers Cup and US Open. Earlier in the season, she also reached her maiden quarterfinal at the Australian Open – after competing at the tournament since 2002.
Over her rich career, Kaia has played and beaten players of all calibre; Muchova should not seem too difficult but physical fitness will be at play here.
Kanepi v Muchova Prediction and Tip
This match can go either way. That said, Kanepi is the bet worth making given her home advantage and superior overall year.
