Ana Bogdan v Mayar Sherif Head to Head

Despite starting out a 21/10 underdog in her match against Irina Begu, Bogdan managed to seal off a straight-set win and make it to her second successive semifinal for the season.
Bogdan won 6-2, 7-6 (6) in two contrasting sets with the match lasting nearly two hours.
The first set went Bogdan’s way with ease as she raced ahead with two breaks of serves and while she was broken back once, the Romanian player broke right back to clinch it.
It was in the second that Begu would have thought she had a good chance. Bogdan fell 0-2 behind but later had a chance to serve for the match at 5-4 before Begu pushed the set into a tie-breaker.
Bogdan then found herself to be down two set-points, which she saved, winning four points in a row to clinch the match.
She will fancy her chances to go all the way from here on.

Sherif Makes it Three Straight-Setters in a Row
With a straight-set win over Lauren Davis, Sherif has reached her first WTA 250 semifinal of the season having earlier made it there in WTA 125 competitions.
And she now plays Bogdan in an attempt to push towards her second WTA final, having done that last year in Romania, in a tournament that was also played in clay.
Sherif, who had earlier rushed past Anna Bondar and Simona Waltert in her first two rounds, overcame a slow start to register a 7-6 (2), 6-3 win over her American opponent.
In an hour and 49 minutes contest, the two players traded early breaks, before Sherif missed three break-points. The set went into a tie-breaker which Sherif won without any ado.
The second set looked to be following a similar pattern when they broke each other once apiece to take them to 3-2 but Sherif then ran away with the contest, clinching four of the next five games and the match.
