Stefanos Tsitsipas v Mikhail Kukushkin Head to Head
There have been four previous meetings between these including one at the Rome qualifiers of 2018 and Tsitsipas has won every single time.

A first round defeat at the US Open might not have gone down too well for Tsitsipas but as he returns to ATP tennis again, he might not feel the rustiness factor given all the tennis he’s played between these two events.
Since that early exit at Flushing Meadows, Tsitsipas featured at the Davis Cup and won both his matches for Greece in straight sets before taking part in the Laver Cup. There, he overcame Diego Schwartzman in two easy sets and looked to be running away with his second match against France Tiafoe before hitting a roadblock.
He won the first set but then lost the next two in a tie-breaker and a match tie-breaker respectively, in turn handing Team Europe their first tournament loss ever.
Tsitsipas will now hope to get back to his winning ways on the circuit too and he has a wildcard entrant up against him.

Kukushkin 1-9 This Season
Once ranked 39th in the world, Kukushkin has fallen to outside the top 200 on the ATP charts and his results this year give us a good reason why.
Of the 10 competitive matches that Kukushkin has played at the highest level this season, he has won just one. And it’s been six months since that happened.
What makes it worse is he has struggled on the Challenger circuit too, having gotten as far as the quarterfinal stage on just three occasions and never beyond that.
Add that to the kind of record Kukushkin has against Tsitsipas and things could get really tight for him.

Kukushkin would do well to put up any kind of a showing against Tsitispas, even a tie-breaker in one of the sets could count as some sort of a victory but looks highly doubtful.
