Anett Kontaveit v Tereza Martincova Head to Head
Three previous meetings have taken place between these two players including two this very year and Kontaveit has won them all. The first was on the clay courts of Gstaad in 2017 before she needed three sets in Cincinnati in August.
Their most recent meeting came last week in Tallinn where Kontaveit dropped just three games in her victory.

Kontaveit had won the Ostrava Open last year in fine fashion, clinching the title without dropping a set. And with the kind of form she has shown in the lead-up to this tournament here, the Estonian will hope to show a similar run this year too.
The world number three would have liked to do better at the US Open where she was bundled out of the competition in straight sets but looked to have found a way back to her best.
With wins over Martincova and Kaia Kanepi in Tallinn last week she had reached the final and while she was unable to get past Barbora Krejcikova in the title-decider her showing through the week would have left her with a lot of confidence.
She should not have too many worries against a player she has defeated multiple times already as she sharpens her claws for sterner tests ahead.

Martincova Squeaks Past Teichmann
She has been ranked 40th in the world in the past but it’s been an underwhelming season for Martincova which has seen her drop to 78th. And that can be seen from her record this year which read 14-24 coming into this tournament.
Which is why, it would be a slight relief for the Czech to have carved out a 7-6 (1), 7-6 (5) win over the 36th-ranked Jil Teichmann in the first round. She was on court for nearly two and a half hours.
In a match that saw the players share eight breaks of serves equally, it was Martincova’s ability to bounce back from being 0-4 down in the first set that allowed her to come through.
