McNally, in her Second QF of 2022
Caty McNally started as a qualifier in Ostrava and beat Xiyu Wang and Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, losing just 11 games.
In the main rounds, she carried that form forward by upsetting Anna Blinkova 6-1, 6-2 and then Karolina Muchova 6-1, 3-6, 6-1. The 20-year-old is now set to compete in her second quarterfinal of the season – the other being in Den Bosch.
In the Libema Open, McNally – starting from the qualies – beat Daria Saville and Tamara Zidansek to reach the final eight.
Between then and now, Catherine played in a few tournaments but could manage only two main-draw wins. Her current record stands at 21-20.
However, she does have a strong doubles form. McNally won the St. Petersburg Trophy and was later runner-up in Washington Open and the US Open. That kind of experience should help her hold some ground against Swiatek.

Business as Usual for Swiatek
World No. 1, 21-year-old Iga Swiatek is now 58-8. Starting with a bye into round two, the top seed moved past Ajla Tomljanovic 7-5, 2-2 (retired) as the latter withdrew midway through the match.
The Pole is now on the hunt for her eighth singles title of the year. Her silverware collection already includes two majors (Paris and New York), Sunshine Doubles, two WTA 1000 titles and one from the WTA 500 circuit.
With this kind of form, momentum, and pedigree, Swiatek is the player to beat in any tournament. Over the course of the season, she has also beaten several big guns – including Aryna Sabalenka, Ons Jabeur, Naomi Osaka, Petra Kvitova, among others.
That said, Swiatek has also seen some losses – notably at the hands of experienced players like Alize Cornet, Caroline Garcia, Madison Keys, and Beatriz Haddad Maia.
Swiatek v McNally Prediction and Tip
The match is Swiatek’s to lose. Even though she is playing the Czech Republic, she has plenty of supporters on her side. In comparison, McNally is still years behind.
Expect a one-sided affair.
