J.J. Wolf travelled to Europe to try and gather some more points preparing to take off next year. The American has had a very good season so far but rarely ventured outside of the US to play tennis. Now he’s done it with a very clear goal in mind, earn points.
A good chance comes in Florence where he’ll take on a native player who is having a major season as well. Wolf is 36-26 on the year but only 5-7 indoors. He did not do too well earlier in the year in his native US but he looked quite comfortable in France last week.
A quarter-final and nearly a win over veteran Vasek Pospisil. Like most Americans, Wolf enjoys playing on fast court. He has a good forehand and a strong forehand and is very hard to play when he has things going for him. I think he’ll show all of that in this match.

Shaky Form From Maestrelli
The 20-year-old Italian has had some amazing performances this year but they mostly came on clay as he has a 34-12 record on that surface. Outside of clay, Maestrelli is still finding himself a good chance to test himself will come here against Wolf.
The American is heavily favoured because he’s far more advanced in his career so far but the Italian will give it his all. There is a lot of danger for his opponent here as Maestrelli performed really well in Italy all year long. Traditionally he plays okay indoors but only has 20 matches so far in his career.
He took a month off once the clay season concluded at returned last week at the same event that Wolf played. He lost in his first match clearly showing some signs of rust and unfamiliarity with how to play indoors. I expect more of those struggles against Wolf.
Wolf v Maestrelli Prediction and Tip
Wolf is highly favoured in this one and I do agree with that. There is very little value in playing him so the over on games seems like a better option. I do think we might see that.
