Yastremska on Eight-Match Losing Streak
After a bright start to the year, Yastremska’s season has tapered off.
The Ukrainian heads to Cluj Napoca in horrendous form as the last time she won a match was in the second round in Birmingham in June.
Since then she has lost eight matches in a row. The losing streak began in the quarterfinals in Birmingham, where she went down to Zhang Shuai. That was followed by seven consecutive first round defeats, the most recent of which came in Portoroz last week.
What’s worst is that the World no. 92 has not even won a set in the last eight matches.
She is however 19-21 overall this season, with all those wins coming in the early season. She was a finalist in Lyon and a quarterfinalist in Dubai, Bogota and Birmingham.

Korpatsch Is 14-2 In Last 16 Matches Across Levels
World no. 98 Tamara Korpatsch has made it to the main draw as a lucky loser.
The German came back from a set down to beat Anastasia Gasanova 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the first qualifying round, but she went down to Elina Avanesyan 4-6, 5-7 in the second qualifying round.
Korpatsch has done well in lower level tournaments this year, winning her first WTA 125 title in Budapest last month. She was also a finalist in Marbella earlier this year.
At the ITF level, the 27-year-old won two titles and both were on clay. She is 14-2 from her last 16 matches across levels, having won back-to-back titles in ITF Montreaux and Budapest last month.
Overall, Korpatsch is 40-21 this year but has won just 2 of her 10 main draw matches on the tour.
Yastremska v Korpatsch Prediction and Tip
Korpatsch is a clay court specialist and has played very little on hard courts throughout her career. Even this year, she is 8-7 on the surface (across levels). In contrast, the 22-year-old Yastremska is a better player on hard courts and the Ukrainian has a great chance of ending her losing streak on Monday.
