Anastasia Zakharova v Anna Blinkova Head to Head
These two have faced off in one previous match on the WTA circuit – it came at the WTA 125 level – last year and it was Blinkova who came through in straight sets.

Zakharova Has Made a Mark on the ITF Circuit
While Zakharova is yet to win a main draw WTA match in her career, she does seem to have made a mark on the ITF circuit with her performances. And as a result of that, in more recent times, the Russian has attempted her hand at making it through to the main draw of WTA events.
In fact, since the last week of August, Zakharova has featured in the qualifiers of five such events and this week, for the second time, has made the main draw. She had earlier qualified for the Slovenia Open too but lost her opener to Tamara Zidansek.
Before that, Zakharova had also made it through to the third qualifying round at the US Open and a couple of more withdrawals might have seen her get through.
This time around she is taking on a fellow qualifier here following wins over Grace Lee and Alexandra Ignatik and would hope to carve out a win.

Blinkova Hoping to Turn Things Around
She was once ranked 54th in the world but Blinkova’s form has fallen away so drastically that it’s no surprise she is now 138th on the charts and struggling to notch up victories in main draws of WTA tournaments
In more recent times, Blinkova won an opening round match in Seoul but in the six other WTA tournaments around the Korea Open, hasn’t done anything of note in the main draw.
Which is bit of a surprise after Blinkova had shown some promise earlier this season in a WTA 125 event in Saint Malo where she had made the final.
She starts off a favourite here but will be wary of her fellow Russian who has exhibited enough grit to challenge some of the top players.
Zakharova v Blinkova Prediction and Tip
Blinkova, because of her experience, starts off a 1/2 favourite but we expect Zakharova to put up a solid fight. Expect this to go into a third set.
