Can Paire Regain Confidence and Form for a Deep Run?
Frenchman Benoit Paire is a veteran on the ATP circuit, and has challenged the best of players on his day; the most recent example being his early round match at the US Open against Roger Federer. Although Federer eventually won the match in straight sets, Paire was able to unsettle Federer for good portions of the match.
Paire is 3-5 in his last eight matches and is recovering from recent losses at the Challenger level, as well as a loss to Tomas Berdych last week in Montpellier where he was only able to win two games.
While Paire has the ability to produce some scintillating shots to add to his big serve, his inability to be consistent with his form and temperament in recent times, has been disappointing.
Paire has an attacking game, and will looking to get an early advantage with it against Wawrinka, who can sometimes be a slow starter.

Paire wil be looking to overcome some disappointing recent losses with a resounding win against the Swiss star. The Frenchman has what it takes to push Wawrinka to the brink. However, in recent times, Paire has not managed to be consistent with his game, and that has resulted in him losing his cool at crucial junctures.
Although Wawrinka’s return from injury has had its share of disappointment, he has shown glimpses of his peak from time to time. Being more experienced, and keeping a calm head typically, should work to the Swiss’s advantage. Expect Wawrinka to move through the difficult draw here, with a straight sets opening round win.
