Auger-Aliassime Eases Past Musetti
World no. 13 Felix Auger-Aliassime scored a convincing straight sets win over third seed and local favourite Lorenzo Musetti to reach a third final of the season and an 11th of his career.
The Canadian, wasn’t broken by the Italian in the match, as he saved both the break points that he faced, while he broke the World no. 28 twice in the opening set and once in the second to complete a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
The top seed got 73% of his first serves right, won 81% points on his first delivery and struck 21 winners and made just 6 unforced errors during the one-hour-and-28-minute contest.
It’s been a good comeback for Auger-Aliassime after a first round defeat in Astana last week. The 22-year-old has improved his season record to 44-25 this week.
He had begun his Florence challenge with a tough three-set win over Oscar Otte in the second round and then eased past Brandon Nakashima in straight sets in the quarterfinal.
Auger-Alissime doesn’t have a very good record in finals. He has featured in 10 tour-level finals before, but lifted his only title in Rotterdam earlier this year, beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the title clash. He also reached the final in Marseille this year but finished runner-up to Andrey Rublev.
He will be the favourite to win his second title on Sunday against an unexpected finalist. However, a not-so-good record in finals may put a bit of pressure on the Canadian.

Wolf Reaches Maiden Final
World no. 75 J.J. Wolf reached a maiden career final with a straight sets win over Sweden’s Mikael Ymer on Saturday.
The 23-year-old American, enjoying his best week on the tour so far, needed an hour and 31 minutes to beat Ymer 6-4, 6-4.
Wolf struck 9 aces and 35 winners in the match and converted 5 of 7 break points, while saving half of the six that he faced. This was Wolf’s second straight set victory of the week.
Wolf had fought back from a set down to beat Italian wild card Francesco Maestrelli in the first round before upsetting fourth seed Maxime Cressy 6-3, 6-4 in round 2.
He produced another upset in the quarterfinal, rallying past seventh seed Alexander Bublik in three.
A five-time champion on the Challenger Tour, Wolf has improved to 14-10 on the tour. Can he cap off the stunning week by clinching his first ever title on the tour?
Auger-Aliassime v Wolf Prediction and Tip
Auger-Aliassime is the superior player and also far more experienced at this level. Although a 1-9 record in finals may not be too encouraging for the Canadian, but having ended the finals jinx this year, he seems set to win more often now. The top seed should lift his second title on Sunday.
