For the second week in a row, Holger Rune proved better than Alex de Minaur beating him in two sets. Last week’s match was far closer but it seems like the Stockholm Open triumph gave him even more confidence in his abilities and it showed in that match.
He’ll have a chance to test himself out against another solid indoor player Ugo Humbert who is playing strong tennis as well.
Rune is a very aggressive player. He takes the ball early and tries to hit as many winners as possible opting to keep the points short when he needs to.
His serve is also pretty good giving him a chance to finish off points quickly as he gets many short balls back. The conditions in Basel give him a chance to paly the way he wants to and he proved that against de Minaur.
This is a good chance to get to the quarter-final.

Humbert Smacks Brooksby
Ugo Humbert has had a very poor season overall even if his 33-27 record looks fairly good. He played most of his matches at the Challenger Tour after poor results in the first part of the year saw him drop out of the top 100. Mind you, this is a player who was ranked in the top 30 before and has won a couple of ATP trophies.
Indoors is where he plays some of the best tennis he is able to play and he’s been proving it in the previous weeks Some strong results and now a smashing Brooksby who was very overwhelmed in this matchup. Humbert is a lefty with a precise and powerful serve and a pretty good forehand.
That signature combo makes him very hard to play indoors especially if he serves as well as he can.
He lost to Rune earlier this year so he’ll be surely motivated to do better here but I’m unsure whether he’ll be able to get the win.

Rune is the overwhelming favourite here because he’s simply the better player and in better form. Take him to win.
