Felix Augur-Aliassime v Miomir Kecmanovic Head to Head

The pair have played each other three times before,  and Kecmanovic leads their head to head series by two matches to one.

The Serb won their first match at Cincinnati in 2019, and again in Miami earlier this year. However,  Augur-Aliassime won their contest in the ATP Cup.

Augur-Aliassime Given a Swiss Scare

Augur-Aliassime has shed the reputation of being a nearly man this year. Prior to 2022, he had been in eight finals and lost all of them.

Although he added to his losing collection in Marseille, he lifted the trophy and pocketed the winner’s cheque in Rotterdam, Florence, and, last week, in Antwerp.

Not that he would be averse to a fourth success, especially if it helps him to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin.

He is one step closer to that, but not before being give a scare by the Swiss Marc-Andrea Huesler in their first round match.

The first set was largely dominated by serve although Huesler did see two break points saved. Three more presented themselves to him in the subsequent tie-break, the third of which he converted.

That was the signal for the Canadian to raise his game and he immediately broke the Huesler serve at the start of the second set and consolidated that to level the match.

In the third set, Augur Aliassime was content to bide his time, waiting for his opportunity to strike, which came in the ninth game when he forced what proved to the decisive break.

He was able to serve out to love next game.

Kecmanovic Fights Back Against Spaniard

Although he has yet to add to the one singles title that he won back in 2020 in Kitzbuhel, Kecmanovic can look back on this season as the one in which he made his top 30 debut, and won the doubles at Los Cabos in August,

And he can also take some satisfaction from the way he fought back against the Spanish world number 31, Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina, in their first round match.

The first set, which was tightly contested saw the pair swap breaks, but neither was able to convert the other break point opportunities that came their way.

In the ensuing tie-break, Kecmanovic raced into a four point lead, but squandered it as Davidovich-Fokina won six straight points and eventually took the set.

The Serb saved a break point at the start of the second set and that seemed to spur him into action. He broke the Spaniard’s serve and then again, and suddenly the match was level.

The momentum was on the side of Kecmanovic by now, and an early break put him in control of the third set. Davidovich-Fokina saved two break points to avoid falling behind, but the reprieve was short-lived.

The Serb broke him once more, and served out to love.

Augur-Aliassime v Kecmanovic Prediction and Tip

Although previous matches between the pair have always been close in the past, Augur-Aliassime is in a rich vein of form right now, and will be confident he can continue his winning streak.
