Casper Ruud v Felix Auger-Aliassime Head to Head
Ruud is 2-1 on the tour and 3-2 overall. He also won their only meeting this year at the Canadian Open quarterfinals..

Ruud’s Recent Form a Concern
World no. 4 Casper Ruud was terrific throughout the season, but has struggled recently.
Ever since the Norwegian finished runner-up at the U.S. Open, he has become out of form. As a result of which he comes into the season-ending ATP Finals with a 2-4 record in his last four tournaments.
Over the last two years, Ruud had already built a reputation of being a dangerous clay court player. This year, he not only prospered on clay but even established himself on hard courts, reaching his maiden ATP 1000 final in Miami and his first-ever final at the U.S. Open. He couldn’t add to the only hard-court title he won in San Diego last year, but a run to two big finals and a 22-11 season record on the surface are a clear indication that he has now established himself on a surface that was supposed to be his weakness two years ago.
Overall, the 23-year-old is 48-20 this season and the nine-time tour-level champion has a 3-3 record from six finals in 2022.
Of those three runner-up finishes, two were in the Grand Slams. Prior to this season, his best in the majors was a run to the fourth round at the Australian Open. But this year he first reached the final at Roland Garros and then at Flushing Meadows, falling to Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz respectively. Of the three titles this season, he lifted the Argentina Open trophy for the second time and defended the Geneva Open and the Swiss Open titles.
Ruud, who peaked to a career-high of no. 2 in September this year, will be making his second ATP Finals. He had made it to the semifinals on his debut last year, before falling to Daniil Medvedev. How far will he go his year?

Auger-Aliassime in Enviable Form
Just like Casper Ruud, Felix Auger-Aliassime had a number of firsts to his name this season. But the one that he would be most relieved about is the maiden title that he won in Rotterdam. Till last year he had featured in eight finals and lost all of them. But this year he finally clinched his maiden ATP title and then picked three more last year in what’s turning out to be a sensational year for the Canadian.
Auger-Aliassime has been particularly dangerous on indoor hard courts, where he is 25-4 this season. Last month, he won three titles in a row in Florence, Antwerp and Basel and was on course to pick a fourth in Paris this month before he was eliminated in the semifinals by eventual champion Holger Rune. That defeat ended a 16-match unbeaten run for the Canadian, who is 4-1 in finals this year.
All five of his finals this year came on indoor surfaces and his only runner-up finish came in Marseille, a week after he lifted the Rotterdam title.
Thanks to the 56-25 overall record this season, Auger-Aliassime reached a career-high ranking of no. 6 this week. He is in sublime form at the moment and will be looking to progress from his group.
Ruud v Auger-Aliassime Prediction and Tip
