Jeļena Ostapenko v Jennifer Brady Head to Head

The pair have met once before in Stuttgart two years ago, when Ostapenko edged out the American in three sets, 5-7 6-1, 6-3.

Ostapenko – Grand Slam Champion Struggling for Form

Ostapenko, the 2017 French Open champion has had difficulties, since that signature win, reproducing that sort of form, and has now tumbled down the world rankings to the 22nd in the world.

Her form in 2019 has been indifferent to say the least.

It began with a first round exits in her first three tournaments, the Shenzhen and Sydney Open, and then the Australian Open, before she was eliminated in the round of 32 in St. Petersburg.

She did find some success playing for her country in the Federation Cup against Slovakia, but, last week, after battling past Romanian Mihaela Buzarnescu in the first round in Doha, she found the world number 7, Elina Svitolina, too strong for her in round of 16.

A clay court specialist, the hard courts of Dubai will not necessarily suit her game and her tendency to make unforced errors.

Brady – Qualifier Hoping to Raise her Profile

23-year-old Brady has just dropped out of the WTA Top 100, in part a reflection of the fact that she spends the majority of her time on the junior tours where she has won 4 ITF Futures Titles.

She has had to win two qualifying matches to even get to this stage, first ousting Alexandra Dulgheru of Romania, and then Slovenian Dalila Jakupovic, a credible feat given she was ranked some 35 places above her in the current world rankings.

However, things for the American will now start to get much harder from now on, starting with Ostapenko on Monday.

Ostapenko v Brady Predictions & Tips

Ostapenko will start favourite at 13/19 (bet365) , whilst you can get 13/10 on Brady. Ospapenko is in poor form but, if she can produce anything like the tennis she is capable of, then she should have enough to win in straight sets.

You can watch & bet on Jeļena Ostapenko v Jennifer Brady on Monday, February 18. The match will be held from 9.30 am BST onward.
