Aslan Karatsev v Tallon Griekspoor Head to Head

There have been four previous meetings between these players; two on the Challenger circuit and two at the highest level. Both Karatsev and Griekspoor have won one match apiece at both the circuits.

Both the matches on the ATP circuit came last season.

Karatsev Showing Exemplary Form This Tournament

Karatsev had his difficulties on and off the court in 2022 but this has been a rather stunning start to the new season.

After having gotten past Pablo Andujar and Tim van Rijthoven in the first two rounds of the competition, Karatsev raced off to a crushing win over Pedro Martinez in the quarterfinals.

The Russian was on court for a mere 74 minutes in his 6-1, 6-2 drubbing of Martinez.

The eighth seed slammed 13 aces and saved all five break-points he faced in the encounter even as he broke his opponent four times in the match – twice in each of the two sets.

And now, in the kind of form that he is in, he should start off with a lot of confidence against his Dutch opponent.

Griekspoor Benefits from Cilic Withdrawal

Marin Cilic is the top seed in this tournament and was expected to go the distance, lifting the title given the form he has shown over the past couple of years.

Unfortunately for him – and fortunately for Griekspoor – he failed to take to court because of a knee injury that occurred in the training before the match and had to withdraw from the tournament.

Griekspoor had earlier overcome Jaume Munar and Marco Cecchinato in the first two rounds, winning both matches in straight sets.

And at his best, he could have even started out as a favourite against Karatsev but having fallen to 95th in the world, things could get difficult for him.

Karatsev v Griekspoor Prediction and Tip

Karatsev is 1/2 to win this and given his form and confidence, it’s difficult to look beyond the Russian’s win here. Can he make it four straight-set victories in a row though?
