Emil Ruusuvuori v Mikael Ymer Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two players and Ruusuvuori leads 2-1. Ruusuvuori won the first two in 2021, at Miami and Bastad while Ymer pulled one back in Washington last year.

In the end it was Tallon Griekspoor who won the Pune Open title last week but not before he had been pushed to the corner by Benjamin Bonzi. And it was the same Bonzi who finished a runner-up in Pune who sent Ruusuvuori packing from that tournament in the first round.
Ruusuvuori had gone into the match as a 3/5 favourite but fell 6-1, 7-6 (4) at the hands of Bonzi in the opener.
That showing followed a reasonable end to the world number 46’s previous season where he was a semifinalist at the Stockholm Open, and reached the second round at four of the five other tournaments in the last couple of months.
Can he now get past Ymer in a match where he starts off a favourite again but in the knowledge of what happened last week in Pune.

Ymer Back in Main Draw at Adelaide Again
Ymer had managed a direct qualification in the first tournament that was played in Adelaide last week but fell in the first round to Roman Saifullin. Again, like Ruusuvuori, Ymer had gone into that encounter as a favourite but managed to win just six games in the process.
This week, the Swede needed to come through as a qualifier but the good news for him was he didn’t drop a set.
In the first qualifier, he was aided by Nikoloz Basilashvili’s fitness concerns but by then he was already 6-1, 1-1 ahead. He followed that up with a fighting win against Jordan Thompson, clinching it 7-6 (4), 7-5 but again did not drop a set.
What Ymer would now want is to take advantage of Ruusuvuori’s stumble last week and trip him up yet again but starts off a 1/1 underdog here.

Expect a hard-fought encounter that goes into the third set with Ymer coming through in the end.
