Elisabetta Cocciaretto v Jasmine Paolini Head to Head
Only once before have they faced off on the WTA circuit and it came at the 2022 Parma Open. Paolini had needed three sets to get past Cocciaretto in that encounter.

It wasn’t the brightest of starts in the season for Cocciaretto as she fell to a three-set defeat at the hands of Anna Blinkova last week. Starting out as a favourite against Blinkova, Cocciaretto had lost 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 to crash out the competition.
Which is why when she took to court for her opener here against Alize Cornet, Cocciaretto had started off as a second-favourite, with odds of 11/10 for her win.
Cocciaretto wasn’t informed of the script though as she launched a blistering campaign in this tournament by defeating Cornet 6-4, 6-2 and entering round two.
In a match lasting less than an hour and a half, Cocciaretto withstood a break of serve in each of the two sets before carving out a win over the 34th-ranked Cornet. And now coming up against a player who is more attuned to playing on clay, Cocciaretto will fancy her chances of proceeding to the last eight stage.

Paolini Cruises Past Tig
Much like Cocciaretto, Paolini had also made a slow start to the season when she lost her opener at the Auckland Open last week.
Taking on Anna Bondar, who was 9/5 coming into that encounter, Paolini fell to a 3-6, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (4) defeat at the hands of her opponent and was left wondering what might have been.
Fortunately for Paolini there were no such issues in her opening round encounter here against Patricia Maria Tig as she raced to a 6-3, 6-1 victory.
Paolini was on court for a total of 65 minutes only, breaking her opponent seven times in the match. What would be slightly more worrisome for Paolini, however, will be the fact she lost her own serve three times too.
And against Cocciaretto, Paolini will need to do a lot better than that.
Cocciaretto v Paolini Prediction and Tip
Cocciaretto is a mild 4/5 favouite coming into this one and we will have to back here to get past Paolini who, at times, struggles on this surface. The match might go to a third set though.
