Bernarda Pera v Elisabetta Cocciaretto Head to Head
These two have faced off twice in their career before this, both of which came in 2022.
The first of these matches came on the clay courts of Budapest where Pera won 6-4, 6-3 before they met in the qualifiers of the San Diego Open. Pera was a 7-6 (3), 6-3 winner there.

By the looks of it, there wasn’t much to choose between Cocciaretto and Jasmine Paolini before the start of their second round encounter. But the manner in which Cocciaretto sent Paolini packing, it could be a warning sign to a few of her opponents in the coming times.
More so because Cocciaretto had earlier outplayed Alize Cornet in straight sets too in the first round.
In a match lasting a mere 57 minutes, Cocciaretto dispatched Paolini 6-2, 6-1 to seal her first quarterfinal appearance since Budapest in July last year.
What was interesting to see was Cocciaretto lost two of the three games in the match on her own serve but at the same time broke Paolini six times out of the six chances she had in the encounter.
Cocciaretto will hope to keep her streak going but things could get tougher from here on.

Pera Scrapes Past Siegemund
Pera was a 9/20 favourite coming into her second round match against Laura Siegemund but her German opponent took the fight to her. It was after nearly three hours of ebbs and flows did Pera manage to scrape through to the quarterfinal.
In a match that saw Pera’s first serve progressively worsen as the match wore on, the American came through 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-4 to seal her quarterfinal berth.
After saving three break-points in the very opening game of the match, Pera went on to clinch her only break of the set in the 10th game. It was off her fifth break-point of the set.
Pera had a chance to seal the deal when she went 2-0 up in the second set but lost her serve soon after and was then sent packing in the tie-breaker that followed.
In the third, Pera fell 1-4, 0-40 behind but came back from the brink to win the next five games and with that, the match.
Can she now make it to the last eight stage?

It could turn out to be another very close encounter that sees Pera edge her opponent out in three sets.
