John Isner v Adrian Mannarino Head to Head
Interestingly, Isner and Mannarino have played each other eight times in their career and the American has a 7-1 record against his opponent. Even more in favour of Isner is the fact he is on a six-match winning streak against the Frenchman, having not lost to him since the 2013 Wimbledon, and registering wins on grass, clay and hard-court surfaces including as recently as the Delray Beach Open quarter-finals.
Isner Coming into His Own
It had been a slow start to the season for the American, having lost back to back opening round matches at Auckland and in the Australian Open.
However, he came back strongly to reach the semi-finals at both, the New York Open where he lost to Reilly Opelka and then to Dan Evans at the same stage of the Delray Beach Open having defeated Mannarino in the previous round.
Having qualified for the ATP World Tour Finals last year, the 33-year-old world number nine would like for another shot at the year-end tournament but for that he will have to garner some big points given he had won the Miami Masters last year and made the semi-finals and quarter-finals at the final two Grand Slam tournaments.
String of Defeats for Adrian Mannarino
That it has been a poor season for Mannarino cannot be hidden by the fact he made the quarter-finals at Delray Beach Open last week. He had earlier lost in round one of the Sydney International, Australian Open, Sofia Open and the New York Open as well, not to mention an embarrassing defeat in the first round to little-known Jurij Rodionov at the Rennes Challenger.
Which is also why that march into the quarter-finals last week should give him some sort of a confidence going into this encounter against the American. However…
