Tamara Zidansek v Astra Sharma Head to Head
Zidansek won their only meeting in Canberra in 2017.

Zidansek Hoping to Overcome the Struggles of 2022
Tamara Zidansek is yet to win a main draw match in 2023.
The 25-year-old lost her opening round match in Auckland to Lauren Davis. She then made it to the main draw in Hobart with back-to-back qualifying round wins over Zara Larke and Diane Parry, but lost a close three-set contest to Ysaline Bonaventure.
She also lost a tough three-set contest in the opening round of the Australian Open, going down to world no. 2 Ons Jabeur.
The world no. 98 will now be looking to get her first main draw win of the season on Monday in Hua Hin. She featured in the tournament in 2019, going on to reach the semifinal.
After the highs of 2021, when she reached the semifinals of the French Open, Zidansek had an ordinary run in 2022. She finished with a 21-24 record from all levels. She was a semifinalist in Adelaide-2 and reached the third round of the first two majors, but made plenty of early exits throughout the season.
She reached her first final of the year at the back end of the season, finishing runner-up at an ITF event in Monastir.
Can she make a winning start in Hua Hin?

Sharma Qualifies for the Main Draw
World no. 224 Astra Sharma made it to the main draw in Hua Hin with consecutive straight set wins in the qualifying rounds over the weekend.
The Aussie, who knocked out Thailand’s Chompoothip Jundakate 6-2, 6-2 on Saturday, ousted fellow Aussie Ellen Perez 6-2, 7-5 on Sunday.
Against Perez, the 27-year-old converted 6 of 9 break points and saved 3 of 8 to take the contest in an hour and 14 minutes.
Sharma is 5-2 in 2023. She was a quarterfinalist at the Canberra ITF, but could win just one qualifying round at the Australian Open, falling in the second qualifier.
She will be playing her first main draw match of the tour on Monday.
Sharma had a successful campaign in 2021, winning her maiden WTA title in Charleston. She, however, struggled throughout 2022 as a result of which she fell out of the top 200 by the end of the year.
She had peaked to no. 84 in February last year and will be aiming to break back into the top 100 this year. Can she put on a good show in Hua Hin?
Zidansek v Sharma Prediction and Tip
Zidansek is a slight favourite in this contest. The Slovenian may not have won a main draw match this year, but both her previous two defeats came in close three-set contests and one of those was against the world no. 2, so she will definitely back herself in this contest against Sharma.
