Anhelina Kalinina v Alycia Parks Head to Head
While they have never faced off at the highest level, they did play each other on the ITF circuit in 2019 and Kalinina had won that one on clay.

Kalinina has been slowly and steadily gaining traction on the WTA Rankings charts, having finished the previous season in the top 40. This year, she has gained eight spots already and is knocking on the doors of a top 30 ranking.
This has been possible due to her performances at the Hobart International and the Australian Open at which Kalinina showed she can be counted as a consistent top-40 player.
After having fallen to Victoria Azarenka in the first round of the Adelaide International, Kalinina clawed her way back in Hobart with a couple of wins. She lost to Sofia Kenin in the quarterfinal there.
And then at the Australian Open, Kalinina won a couple of rounds again including a victory over 3/5 favourite Petra Kvitova before Barbora Krejcikova got the better of her in the third.

Parks Shocks the World in Lyon
She had begun the previous week ranked 79th in the world but Parks is now knocking on the doors of the top 50 on the WTA Rankings. And that’s thanks to her maiden WTA title victory at the Lyon Open which ended with the American defeating Caroline Garcia in the final.
Parks, who was forced to feature in the Australian Open qualifiers but failed to make it through to the main draw, was playing in only her second tournament of the season in Lyon.
And things looked difficult when she needed to scrape through to a win over her first round opponent Julia Grabher despite starting out a 1/5 favourite in that encounter.
With that win, however, Parks’ confidence seemed to grow and Petra Martic, Danka Kovinic and Maryna Zanevska were all sent packing by the American. In the final, things could have gone either way but Parks stunned the world number five Garcia 7-6 (7), 7-5 to lift the trophy.

Kalinina starts off a favourite at 8/11 and the one thing in her favour is she will be fresher of the two players. Parks has already played five matches in a matter of six days and could find it difficult to adjust to a new tournament.
