Maria Sakkari v Nuria Párrizas Díaz Head to Head
There has been no previous meeting at the WTA circuit between these two but the two have faced off twice on the ITF circuit have both won one match apiece.

Fans dubbed the early ouster of Sakkari – and a few others – from the Australian Open as the ‘Netflix Curse’. Sakkari was one of the few players to have made an appearance in the first few episodes of a new Netflix series called ‘Break Point’ which coincided to release with the start of the new tennis season.
And like all the other tennis players who were covered in that series, Sakkari also crashed out of the season’s first major way earlier than one would have expected.
Sakkari had a couple of straightforward opponents in the first two rounds of that tournament, defeating Yue Yuan and Diane Shnaider in successive rounds. However, come the third round, the Greek number one fell to Lin Zhu (who was 21/5 underdog) in three sets.
Earlier in the season, the world number seven had started off with three successive victories at the United Cup but was a shock loser to Martina Trevisan in the semifinal.

Párrizas Díaz 4-4 in Main Draws This Season
After starting out with a defeat at the hands of Katie Swan at the United Cup, Parrizas Diaz carved out four straight wins including two in the qualifiers of the Hobart International.
Even better still was her performance at the Australian Open which saw her stun Beatriz Haddad Maia in the opener and then overcome Anastasia Potapova in the second round to make it her joint-best performance at any Grand Slam.
Since then, however, Parrizas Diaz has lost two in two.
In the third round in Melbourne, she swamped by Donna Vekic in straight sets before falling to the 75th-ranked Anna Bondar in the opening round of the Lyon Open.
And now coming up against the world number seven, a third successive defeat looks a distinct possibility as she hopes to climb back into the top-50 of the rankings yet again.

No surprises to see Sakkari start off a heavy favourite here. We reckon this be settled in two sets for the Greek number one.
