Who is Playing at the 2023 ATP Dallas Open?

The 2023 ATP Dallas will feature 28 players in the singles draw. Adrian Mannarino and Miomir Kecmanovic are the only non-American players among the top eight seeds.

Taylor Fritz, the top-ranked American in the field, is the top seed at the Dallas Open. Fritz will be looking to improve on last year’s disappointing quarterfinal exit at the hands of Marcos Giron.

Rising star Ben Shelton who had a breakthrough run at the Australian Open has withdrawn from the tournament. It is a big blow for the young tennis fraternity at SMU who were looking to watch Shelton first-hand at his home tournament.

Defending champion Reilly Opelka is also out. The towering American was reportedly forced to shut down his season early due to hip and ankle injuries last year, and it looks like he hasn’t recovered in time to defend his title.

Two of three wild cards have been named. Former world No. 8 Jack Sock will be playing just his second match of 2023 while 20-year-old Liam Krall is set for his ATP Tour debut.

Four players will be drawn from qualifying on Monday.

Our 2023 ATP Dallas Open Predictions & Picks

Four of the current top eight seeds are ranked inside the top 50. It is tough to imagine an outsider winning the second edition of the ATP Dallas Open.

The American contingent will be in full voice. Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe are the only top 20 players in the 28-man draw. The pair were in scintillating form at the United Cup as they steered their country to success Down Under.

However, Fritz and Tiafoe will be looking to bounce back from their frustrating campaigns at the Australian Open. Tiafoe, in particular, needs an ATP title badly enough after coming close on multiple occasions last season. The 25-year-old’s only ATP title came on home soil, winning the Delray Beach Open in 2018, and has our backing to end his title drought.

J.J. Wolf played superbly at the Australian Open. He reached the second week of a Grand Slam for the first time. He’s won 90% of his matches at pro level on home territory and has an incredibly big game tailor-made for the surface in Dallas.

Keep in mind Wolf’s only ATP final to date was on indoor hard courts in Florence last year, so he could fancy his chances this week.
