Bianca Andreescu v Lesia Tsurenko Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2018 Billie Jean King Cup where Tsurenko had defeated Andreescu with the Canadian player retiring from the match in the third set.

Andreescu Staves off Late Kostyuk Fightback
For most part of the first and the second sets, Andreescu looked to be running away with her quarterfinal against Marta Kostyuk. Kostyuk put up a brave front towards the end, fighting back to take the second set into a tie-breaker but in the end it was Andreescu who came through in straight sets.
Andreescu was 6-0, 5-1 against Kostyuk but the Canadian then lost her serve twice to fritter away two chances to serve for the match.
Kostyuk saved a break-point to go 6-5 up before a nervous Andreescu managed to hold on to her serve and push it into a tie-breaker. There Kostyuk took a 2-0 lead only for Andreescu to win four points in a row and finally seal the encounter 6-0, 7-6 (3).
This follows Andreescu’s wins over Harriet Dart and Anastasia Zakharova in the first two rounds, both of which had also come in straight sets.
This will be Andreescu’s first semifinal appearance since she made it that far at the Bad Homburg Open in June last year, which by itself was the first time she had made it that far in 14 months.

Tsurenko Routs Maria to Make Rare Recent Semifinal
The last time Tsurenko entered the semifinal stage of a competitive tennis tournament at any level was way back in March 2020 when she did that in a WTA 125k competition there.
Which is why her 6-1, 6-1 rout of Tatjana Maria in the quarterfinals holds a special place. Because despite starting out a 4/5 favourite in her match against Maria, she hadn’t been winning a lot in recent times which had seen ranking plummet to 136th in the world.
In a mere 76 minutes, Tsurenko won 70% of all the points on her serve and broke her opponent six times to clinch her semifinal berth.
Tsurenko had earlier sent out Ysaline Bonaventure and Anna Kalinskaya in the first two rounds, the latter in a match where her opponent was a 3/5 favourite.
Can she now make it to her first WTA final since January 2019 when she had entered the title-decider at the Brisbane International before losing to Karolina Pliskova.
Andreescu v Tsurenko Prediction and Tip
Andreescu starts a favourite but we can expect Tsurenko to not give in without a fight here. Expect a hard-fought two-setter or even three sets in the encounter.
