Anastasia Potapova, current World No. 43, has had an eventful start to the season as she looks to build on her momentum in Linz.
Last week, the 21-year-old featured in the Lyon Open, where she reached the quarterfinal after dismissing Clara Burel and Marina Ribera. She ultimately lost to Maryna Zanevska.
Before that, the Russian actively participated in Australian events, where her best results came in the Grand Slam as a round-two showing. While she lost to Nuria Parrizas Diaz, she did upset Sloane Stephens in the opening round. In the preceding events in Adelaide, however, Potapova bowed out quite early to Katerina Siniakova and Linda Noskova.
Anastasia closed last season at 35-24, picking up the singles title from Istanbul and a runner-up trophy from Prague. She has made some solid gains and is well-positioned for a breakthrough run in 2023.

Bronzetti to be Tested
Lucia Bronzetti of Italy enjoyed a good start to the year as she guided her country to the United Cup finals. En route, she picked up wins over Ulrikke Eikeri, Laura Pigossi, and Valentini Grammatikopoulou but lost to Magda Linette and Madison Keys.
Unfortunately, the 24-year-old could not translate that experience into positive results as she lost her opening-round fixtures in Hobart and the Aus Open next. Those defeats came at the hands of lower-ranked players like Anna Blinkova and Laura Siegemund.
Like Potapova, Bronzetti too had a phenomenal spell in 2022. Starting outside the top 100, she closed at the #54 spot with a record of 36-26 and runner-up titles from WTA Palermo and Vancouver 125.
Bronzetti v Potapova Prediction and Tip
Both players are coming off similar starts, but Potapova has a bit more momentum after her last week’s antics in Lyon. She is the odds-on favourite here. A seemingly-rusty Bronzetti may have to put in some effort to win this one, but at the very least, she seems well-equipped for a good fight.
