Julia Grabher v Madison Brengle Head to Head

Grabher and Brengle have never faced off in a competitive match before this.

Grabher on a Four-Match Losing Streak

Things haven’t looked great for Grabher who has won just one set over the past four matches she’s played.

Starting out the season at the Auckland Open, Grabher shocked Tereza Martincova in her opener there despite going in as a 2/1 underdog in the encounter. But if that result should have given her confidence, her second round loss at the hands of Leylah Fernandez seems to have shattered it for her.

Fernandez dropped just one game in that victory over Grabher and since then, the 26-year-old Austrian has lost three more matches. This includes defeats to Kaja Juvan and Anett Kontaveit at the Hobart International and Australian Open and then again at the Lyon Open to Alycia Parks.

And while Parks would go on to lift the trophy at that tournament, it might not be of any consolation to Grabher who would be desperate to just notch up a win for a change.

Brengle Worse off Than Grabher

If Grabher is struggling at 1-4 win-loss record for the season, Brengle’s performances have been worse. The American, who was once ranked 35th in the world, has featured in four tournaments this season and lost in the first round at every single one of them.

It started with a loss to Lin Zhu in the first round of the Auckland Open, before Bernarda Pera sent her packing in Hobart. At the Australian Open, Brengle was tripped by Claire Liu in the opener and then last week it was the turn of Shuai Zhang to get the better of the American.

In all of these matches, Brengle has won just a set, and that was in the first match. Since winning that set, Brengle is on a eight-set losing streak.

Brengle will still hold some edge in this one given her record in hardcourt competitions is better than the clay-court specialist Grabher. Can she convert that, however, into a result in her favour?

Grabher v Brengle Prediction and Tip

This could be a keen tussle but once that Brengle eventually wins on account of her better showing on hardcourt surfaces.
