Barbora Krejcikova v Elena-Gabriela Ruse Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two which came on the clay courts of Bucharest in 2019. Krejcikova had won that in three sets.

While Krejcikova failed to defend all her points from the 2022 Australian Open, she did show why she was once ranked second in the world.
Krejcikova reached the fourth round of the season’s first major with three successive straight-set wins before Jessica Pegula ended her stay in the tournament. This had followed a second round appearance at the Adelaide International 2 where Daria Kasatkina got the better of her.
The Czech player had managed to hold on to her world number two ranking till about May last year but with injuries and form playing its part, Krejcikova fell to 27th by September.
In the latter part of the season rebounded with back to back title wins at Talinn and Ostrava but having failed to defend her Sydney International final and Australian Open quarterfinal points from the previous season, it’s no surprise she is now 30th on the WTA charts.

Ruse Strong in Qualifiers
While Ruse hasn’t shown any great form so far this year, her performance in the qualifiers at this tournament could signal the start of something good.
Facing Krejcikova might not be the best draw she could have hoped for but Ruse will hope she can take something out of the qualifying wins. Those came against Tereza Martincova, who was 3/5 to win that encounter and Mirjam Bjorklund.
Before that, however, Ruse had won just one main draw match this year. It came in Auckland where, following her qualifying victories she overcame 845th-ranked Erin Routliffe in her opener.
Since then, Ruse has fallen in the second round of the Auckland Open, failed to make it through the Australian Open qualifiers and then lost in the opening round of the Hua Hin Open.
A fighting show is what she would hope for here.
Krejcikova v Ruse Prediction and Tip
While Ruse was in top form in the qualifiers, Krejcikova would be a bridge too far to surmount. Expecting a straight-set win for the Czech player.
