Frances Tiafoe is hoping to make a great impression on tennis fans in Dallas as he takes his talents to the city. The American loves playing for fans and does really well on his native soil making this an excellent opportunity for him to do well.
He’s started well this year playing some amazing tennis in the United Cup but he stumbled somewhat at the French Open against Khachanov. Faster conditions work well for Tiafoe who likes to play aggressive groundstrokes. His serve will be crucial here because we might see some tiebreak and that could be crucial for winning it.
Tiafoe is generally really good in those situations but he tends to lose focus at times complicating matches far more than he needs to. McDonald won the most recent one between so he’ll need to be careful in this one and not allow it to get out of control.
He’s favoured to win but it won’t be easy as his opponent is playing very good right now with a match in hand in Dallas.

McDonald Smashes Verdasco
Beating Verdasco these days is not that notable but beating him 6-3 6-0 is certainly very impressive. McDonald seems to be riding the Nadal wave as he looks very confident right now and he plays amazing tennis. Being back will certainly be another boost as he, like most Americans does really well in those conditions.
Winning this matchup will depend on several things. For starters, he will have to be very good behind his serve and actually hit it at a high percentage. The more free points he gets the better it will be. Playing long rallies is something he doesn’t mind but it’s not advisable against Tiafoe.
He will also need to be better in crucial rallies. Break points will be rare on either side I think so actually converting it will be crucial. Having played one match already is beneficial to him as he’ll deal with the conditions better than Taifoe but that will only help him to an extent.
He needs a full effort if he wants to win this.
Tiafoe v McDonald Prediction and Tip
Tiafoe is the better player overall but you could easily argue that McDonald is playing a bit better right now. I’m not sure I’d back him to win this match but there is plenty of value to try it. For the safer option the over seems likely.
