Francisco Cerundolo didn’t start off that well this year with a 3-3 record so far but a return to clay should see his win total increase quite a bit. Like the majority of Argentinians, Cerundolo grew up on clay and developed a really strong game on the surface.
A superb forehand is his main weapon along with pretty good movement and all of that helped him to a 25-12 record on the surface last year. Cerundolo has been the best young player from Argentina in years and he’s looking to take it further this year.
Cordoba hasn’t been an event where he did well in the past due to several factors but he’ll be ready to correct that this year.
He’s a big favourite in this match and is coming off of a solid win in the Davis Cup against Finland so he shouldn’t be too rusty.

Delbonis Collects Win #3 in Cordoba
Federico Delbonis is far removed from his best ranking sitting at number 130 right now. He needed to play the qualifiers but he got through that rather comfortably. The somewhat thinner air in Cordoba suit his serve a bit better and it’s not your typical clay conditions.
Wins over Navone, Tirante and Tabilo are impressive and he’ll certainly present a tricky challenge to his next opponent as well. It’s a 5-3 start for him this year but he’s 5-1 on clay. Last year was a down year overall so getting back to winning ways is the goal.
His best result in Cordoba has been in 2019 when he reached the semi-final losing to Juan Londero. The rest of his appearances have been lacklustre particularly lately as he mostly finished in the first round. He’s in R2 this year but getting further will be tough.
