Petra Martic v Alison Van Uytvanck Head to Head

Petra Martic leads Alison Van Uytvanck 2-0 in their head-to-head. Their first meeting was at the 2018 Australian Open where the Croat won 7-6 6-3. And in their second encounter Martic ran out a 6-0 6-3 victor in Palermo.

Martic Downs Bassols Ribera

Petra Martic took her time before easing past Spanish qualifier Bassols Ribera. She won 6-1 7-5 in an hour and 22 minutes to reach the second round at the Linz Open.

This is Martic’s first visit to Linz in 10 years. But the Croat looked in familiar surroundings as she bagged the first set with a series of near-perfect shots. She broke Bassols Ribera three times and dropped just two points on her first serve.

But it was in the second set where the qualifier upped the ante. Despite her lack of wins on the WTA Tour, the qualifier began taking command of rallies and looking assured on serve.

However, once the set went into the deep end, the 23-year-old flinched and was broken to love in the 11th game. Martic did not let her lead slip away, and served for her place in the second round with aplomb.

Van Uytvanck Serves Shock Win Over Noskova

Not many people saw it coming, but Alison Van Uytvanck served another reminder of why she is regarded as a perennial indoor hard court specialist.

The seven-time WTA titlist has lifted five trophies under the roof and produced a statement win in her first-round match that should send shockwaves across the draw.

Van Uytvanck held off the rising young talent of Czech tennis Linda Noskova, winning 7-6 6-2. The second set, in particular, was an indoor masterclass by the Belgian flat hitter, who won 22 out of 39 return points.

She broke Noskova three times in the decider and posted a healthy first-serve percentage throughout the match. Can she follow it up with a win over Petra Martic for the first time in their series?

Martic v Van Uytvanck Prediction and Tip

Alison Van Uytvanck is one of the most accomplished players on indoor hard courts. Five of her seven career titles have come under the roof. And if her statement win over Noskova is anything to go by, she could get the better of Martic.
