John Isner v Emilio Gomez Head to Head
Isner and Gomez haven’t faced off in a competitive match.

Isner in Another Straight-Set Win
Isner hasn’t had the best start to the season but back to back wins here in Dallas will give him some boost. Especially given he seems to have found some of his serving rhythm back.
In the first round against C H Tseng, Isner blasted 22 aces and saved the only break-point he faced to win in two tie-breakers.
This was followed by another straight-set win over Daniel Altmaeier in the second round where Isner slammed 18 more aces, faced no break-points and carved out a 6-3, 7-6 (1) victory. The only break of serve in the encounter came in the sixth game where Isner got one chance and got past his opponent’s serve.
With Isner back to his serving best, he could prove to be a handful yet again for a player not ranked in the top 100 at the moment.

Gomez Wins a Rare Successive Matches at the Highest Level
While Gomez might have been expected to get past the 211th-ranked Gabriel Diallo in the first round, he had started off a 13/5 underdog in the second round against Miomir Kecmanovic.
Those odds lengthened quite considerably when Gomez lost the first set easily and even when he was a break ahead in the second, a win for him looked highly unlikely. After all Gomez has won just 19 main draw matches in his entire career which began in 2006 and has never been ranked better than 98th in the world.
The Ecuadorian player, however, came back strongly to win the second set in a tie-breaker and then stun Kecmanovic in three sets to make the quarterfinal.
He won 2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4 in a match lasting two hours and 11 minutes.
Now comes his biggest test in recent times as Gomez takes on a player who rarely gets broken on serve. Interestingly, Gomez has a 10-9 record in tie-breakers which could signify the possibility of him having the skill to push Isner here if in full flow.
Isner v Gomez Prediction and Tip
Isner is a heavy favourite here but we could be looking at the fighting Gomez pushing him into a third. Or even getting two tie-breakers out of this.
