Lorenzo Musetti v Pedro Cachin Head to Head
This will be the first career meeting between Lorenzo Musetti and Argentina’s Pedro Cachin.

Lorenzo Musetti will return to action on the red clay in Buenos Aires, marking the first time he resumes competition since suffering a shock five-set defeat to Lloyd Harris in the first round of the Australian Open.
Musetti had a great start to the year as he played a vital role in steering Italy to the final of the United Cup. But a right shoulder injury in the match against Frances Tiafoe of the USA in the final forced him to retire from the match while trailing 2-6 in the score.
Italy never recovered in the tie and lost the championship. Musetti’s injury, however, was a precaution with the year’s first Grand Slam around the corner.
And in his first-round match in Melbourne, he did not have any physical issues. But he fell victim to big-serving South African Harris, who shipped 17 aces past him and broke Musetti’s serve six times.
The young Italian’s failure to put pressure constantly on Harris’ serve proved telling as Harris won the match in a fifth-set tiebreak.

Cachin Beats Monteiro in Opener
Pedro Cachin played his first-round match in Buenos Aires on Monday and recorded his very first win of the 2023 season with a hard-fought 7-6 6-4 win over Thiago Monteiro.
Cachin had lost his last five matches on the trot and without winning a single set in that span. But it was the second time he was playing an opponent below him in rankings this season, and his quality shone in an hour and 55 minutes of clay-court efficiency.
The two players exchanged service breaks in the first set which went into a tiebreak. The Argentine dominated it with his ground stroke accuracy, dropping just two points.
That built belief in his game for the remainder of the match. He broke Monteiro to love in the ninth game of the second set and cooly served for his place in the second round at the first attempt.
Musetti v Cachin Prediction and Tip
It’s never easy to switch surfaces and have to play an opponent who has already made the transition to clay beforehand. But I still expect Musetti to give a much better showing this time, given his preference for the red clay. And Cachin hasn’t really been up to the level expected of him this year, so the Italian looks like a solid pick to advance.
