Cameron Norrie v Juan Pablo Varillas Head to Head
No previous matches have been played between Norrie and Varillas at any kind of competitive level.

Norrie Needs Three Sets against Etcheverry
Norrie was on court for two hours and 36 minutes to get past Tomas Etcheverry in his quarterfinal, edging past the Argentine in three sets.
The Brit came back from a set down to clinch his semifinal spot 5-7, 6-0, 6-3 against Etcheverry who had gone into the encounter as a 7/5 underdog.
The first set saw both players scrape hard for a break but the first one came only in the 11th game when Etcheverry dished it out to his opponent off his first opportunity then.
Norrie had a chance to break right back and he also saved a couple of set-points before Etcheverry got himself the set.
Three successive breaks of serves for Norrie helped him level the proceedings and Etcheverry won just one more game on serve before dropping it two more times. By the time the Argentine had broken back, it was a case of too little, too late as Norrie held on to pocket the victory.
Norrie had earlier needed three sets to scrape past Facundo Diaz Acosta in the second round after getting an opening bye.

Varillas Makes it Five Straight-Set Wins in a Row
It’s not easy for a world number 101 to beat Dominic Thiem on clay even given his current lack of form. It’s doubly difficult to get past Thiem and Lorenzo Musetti in successive matches.
But the Peruvian qualifier Varillas did the almost-improbable when he went past the duo in straight sets, winning all four sets 6-4.
In a match lasting an hour and 47 minutes, Varillas shrugged off a potential fightback in the middle of the second set to claim his spot in the semifinal. Varillas, who has never made it to the final of an ATP event, lost his serve in the fourth game of the second but came back in the very next game to claim the break and then again in the ninth to pouch the match.
Varillas had earlier won against Thiago Tirante and Federico Delbonis in the qualifiers before getting past Joao Sousa. All of these wins came in straight sets and he then made the last eight stage with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Thiem.
Can he pull off something special against Norrie now?
Norrie v Varillas Prediction and Tip
Norrie is a 1/2 favourite here but given Varillas form and his play on clay we think this is a lot more even than what those odds suggest. Varillas could edge the contest here.
