Ysaline Bonaventure v Simona Waltert Head to Head
This will be the first career meeting between World No. 95 Ysaline Bonaventure and World No. 124 Simona Waltert.

Ysaline Bonaventure had a fantastic start to her season reaching her maiden WTA semifinal in Auckland as a qualifier. Back there, she scored one of her biggest wins, beating former US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez in straight sets.
That run in New Zealand took Bonaventure to a career-high ranking of No. 90 where she entered her next tournament in Hobart and reached the Round of 16.
But wins have dried up for the Belgian lefty who has lost four on the spin in the main draw competition. Over a week ago, she lost to Karolina Pliskova 6-1 6-3 in the first round of Abu Dhabi.
She did not partake in qualifying in Doha or Dubai and instead switched continents, traveling to North America to compete for the inaugural Merida Open looking to snap her four-match losing streak when she faces Simona Waltert.

Waltert Earns Main Draw Wild Card
Simona Waltert has only played eight matches on the WTA Tour, winning four and losing the other four matches, with her best run coming on home turf in Lausanne last year.
Walter has been on a fine run of form on the ITF Tour, reaching the final of W60 Grenoble ITF over a week ago, where she lost to Oceane Dodin in the final.
The Swiss is only 22 and has yet to break the top 100. But judging by her steady climb in the rankings, she is destined for big things this year.
If she can translate her great results on the red clay to the hard courts, it won’t be long before we see the young Swissfrequenting Tour level tournaments. She is worth backing at 11/10 in her opening match in Merida.
