Elisabetta Cocciaretto v Katerina Siniakova Head to Head

Their only previous meeting came on the clay courts of Budapest last year which Cocciaretto had won in three sets.

Cocciaretto Continues Good Form with Wang Win

21-year-old Xinyu Wang has moved up to 67th in the world, her career-best ranking, but she still was no match for Cocciaretto in their second round encounter.

Cocciaretto clinched her quarterfinal berth with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Xinyu in a match lasting an hour and 14 minutes. The seventh seeded player got 78% of her first first serves in and won a whopping 75% of her total serves in the encounter.

While Cocciaretto was broken twice – once in each set – it never threatened to derail her given she was already at least a break ahead by then.

This follows a 6-0, 6-3 drubbing of Viktorija Golubic in the first round and a final appearance at the Hobart International last month.

She faces a tough challenge in Siniakova come the last eight stage.

Siniakova Blasts Bonaventure Away

Siniakova made it her third main draw win for the season when she sent Ysaline Bonaventure packing in straight sets in the second round of this encounter.

Having come into the tournament with just one victory, Siniakova had earlier defeated Lesia Tsurenko in her opener here. Incidentally, both her previous wins – including the one against Tsurenko – had seen her opponents retire from their respective matches.

This was Siniakova’s first victory of 2023 in a match that went the distance with the Czech winning 6-0, 7-5 thanks to her solid first serves. Such was her brilliance with her first serves, she lost just two of her 28 points and was broken just once in the match.

In turn she broke Bonaventure five times and came away a winner.

Things might not be as easy as earlier though when she takes on the solid Cocciaretto in the quarterfinal.

Cocciaretto v Siniakova Prediction and Tip

Cocciaretto will have to be our pick to win this given Siniakova’s overall struggles for the year and given how well Cocciaretto has done once she has found some momentum. Straight-setter expected.
