Dan Evans v Borna Coric Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two players with Evans winning that in straight sets at the 2021 ATP Melbourne to make the semifinal.

Evans on a Three-Match Losing Streak
It’s early days so far but it’s been a fairly forgettable season so far for Evans. Including the one singles match he featured in at the Davis Cup, Evans has played nine matches and won just three of them in 2023.
Two of those victories came at the Australian Open where he was a 1/8 favourite against struggling opponents but as soon as he met one of note – Andrey Rublev – Evans capitulated rather easily.
He followed that up with a shock defeat to the 253rd-ranked Nicolas Mejia of Colombia in the Davis Cup, before Emil Ruusuvuori got the better of him in Doha.
With Evans struggling for confidence, and facing up to a player who is currently ranked higher than him, things could become very difficult for the Brit in this opener.

Coric Stunned by Cressy in Montpellier
Coric was on a bit of a roll when he won both his singles matches at the Davis Cup against Austrian players, Denis Novak and Dominic Thiem and followed that up with a straight-set victory over Arthur Rinderknech in the opening round of the Montpellier Open.
Rather shockingly, he fell to a straight-set loss in the second round in Montpellier, when he went down to Maxime Cressy despite starting out a 2/5 favourite in that encounter.
Overall though, the Croat has seen a steady rise in his rankings after returning from his fitness concerns last year. Last May, he had fallen to 279th in the world but then rose to 147th in June and won a Masters title in Cincinnati to break into the top 30.
Since then he has been slowly rising up and currently occupies the 20th spot. He will need to keep going though especially now that he has broken into the top 20 and with a lot of points to defend in the second half of the season.
Evans v Coric Prediction and Tip
Not too surprising to see Coric start off a 2/5 favourite in this one and we will have to back him to overpower a struggling Evans in this opening round encounter. Probably even in straight sets.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Coric to win: 1/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
- Moderate Risk Tip: Coric to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with 888Sport)
