Mayar Sherif v Camila Osorio Head to Head
It’s 1-1 between the two players; they last met in Tenerife in 2021 where Osorio won 6-4, 6-2.

Sherif Enduring a Poor Start
World No. 53 Mayar Sherif is 2-5 in 2023, looking to gain some momentum as the season picks up. It is easier said than done, considering that hard courts have never been the Egyptian’s strong suit.
Five tournaments in, the 26-year-old has won only one match ‘properly’ – a qualifying win over Lizette Cabrera in the Adelaide International 1. Her second victory came over Ana Konjuh in the first round of the Lyon Open, but that match ended with Konjuh retiring in the second set.
That victory in Lyon was followed by a 3-6, 2-6 defeat against the 18-year-old Linda Noskova. Most recently, Sherif featured in Merida where she succumbed to the eventual finalist Camila Giorgi in the opener.
Last season, Mayar clocked 30-17 on the tally board of which, she was 26-5 on clay and a horrible 1-12 on the hard surface. The four titles she picked up (three on Challenger, one on WTA) were all on dirt tracks.

Osorio in a Similar Boat
21-year-old Camila Osorio of Colombia has had a difficult start as well, but to her credit, she is comfortable on the two major surfaces.
Now ranked World No. 61, her bigger problem has been a lack of form and momentum. The highlight of her season came in Lyon where she reached the semifinal, dismissing Alize Cornet, Jule Niemeier, and Noskova en route.
In the Australian Open before that, she reached round two after beating Panan Udvardy.
Most recently, Camila also participated in the Merida Open where she went down fighting in a three-setter against Magda Linette in the opening match.
Interestingly, Osorio was a finalist in the 2022 edition of the Monterrey Open, where she beat familiar names like Magdalena Frech, Marcela Zacarias, Elina Svitolina, and Nuria Parrizas Diaz. Can she repeat the feat again?
Osorio v Sherif Prediction and Tip
This match is Osorio’s to lose, considering that Sherif’s hard-court struggles will likely continue here as well. She may face some resistance but it should not be too big of a problem for her.
