Novak Djokovic v Hubert Hurkacz Head to Head
Four matches played, all four won by Novak Djokovic. There have been moments where Hurkacz has looked like he might be in with a chance like at the 2021 Paris Masters where he won the first set or the 2019 Wimbledon when the score read a set apiece but Djokovic has always found a way to get through.

Djokovic Quickly Goes Past Griekspoor
When Djokovic dropped a set in his first round win over Tomas Machac, the joke going around in the tennis circles was that was the last set he loses in this tournament. Jokes aside, it’s an indication of how Djokovic is viewed by fans and critics alike, with a sense of tennis immortality slowly getting associated with him.
That may or may not be true and we will know that in the years to come but Djokovic did take that first step forward living up to the aforementioned prediction. He did not have a lot of trouble getting past the in-form Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, needing an hour and 17 minutes to go through 6-2, 6-3 in the second round.
Djokovic was broken once but by then he had already taken a 6-2, 5-1 lead in the match and soon after that he completed the victory.
The world number one, who faced just one break-point in the encounter, had 16 opportunities to get past Griekspoor’s serve and converted four of them. He would like to get more clinical than that but we are obviously nitpicking here.
Come the quarterfinal, Djokovic would want to live up to the aforementioned expectation again – beckoning another straightforward win.

Hurkacz Comes Through against Kotov
It started off as a tight encounter but in the end, the class and form of Hurkacz shone through as he breezed past his qualifier opponent Pavel Kotov in straight seets.
A semifinalist here in 2022, Hurkacz won 7-5, 6-1 in a mere 69 minutes to make it to the quarterfinal. While he endured the scrappy nature of his opponent in the first set, there was a lot more ease about his play in the second set as he got an early break and the subsequent straight-set win followed.
Hurkacz did not face a single break-point and won 31 of the 34 first serve points in the match.
This follows Hurkacz’s first round win over Alexander Shevchenko whom the Pole had scraped past in the final set tie-breaker to make it to the second round. It had been his fifth successive win with Hurkacz having won the title at the Marseille Open last week as well.
Can he put up a brave front here against arguably the greatest player in the history of tennis who also seems to be in some of the best form of his life?
Djokovic v Hurkacz Prediction and Tip
It’s always difficult to bet against a Djokovic straight-set win but we would like to opt for that here. Hurkacz has troubled Djokovic in two of their previous four matches and he could do exactly that. If not a Hurkacz set win, you could also look at the games handicap.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Over 9.5 games in first set: 1/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
- Moderate Risk Tip: Games Handicap Hurkacz +4.5: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with 888Sport)
